ENERGY USE

GEOTHERMAL HEATING and COOLING
Throughout the year here in Virginia the temperatures can go from blazingly hot summers to cold winters. Regardless of climate or season, the temperature below ground remains fairly consistent all year round. By absorbing 47% of the Sun’s heat, the ground is able to maintain a higher rate of temperature. The WaterFurnace geothermal system, engineered at 900 North Washington, is designed to tap into this free energy. This earth loop technology is used to help provide your home with central heating and cooling.

INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
Low emitting paint, high quality ventilation and sound-proofing materials between units and floors provide for additional comfort.

WATER EFFICIENCY
Eco-friendly plumbing fixtures, such as dual flush toilets, will reduce city water usage by 20%. All water leaving the site is cleaned and ready for the Chesapeake Bay

HEATING
During the heating cycle, the system uses the earth loop to extract heat from the ground. As the system pulls heat from the loop it distributes it through a conventional duct system as warm air.

COOLING
In the cooling mode, the system air conditions your home by reversing the heating process. Instead of extracting heat from the ground, it is extracted from your home and either moved back into the earth loop, or used to preheat water in the hot water tank. Once the heat is removed from the air, it is distributed through the duct system in your home.
